Database of Historic Houses of Bloomington ![]()
Database of Historic Houses of Normal ![]()
Having a complete and sound "old house" database will contribute to the understanding of our "built legacy" and, ultimately, help to protect and enhance older homes and neighborhoods. Potential ways the data may help include:
- helping homeowners gain easy access to information about their pre-1940 homes and thereby further appreciate their house;
- map and analyze old house data and corresponding assessment values;
- note changes in the average values and assessments of homes in older neighborhoods;
- keeping track of the number of older homes and the percentage of pre-1940 homes in McLean County.
To find a specific home, open up the table for your city. After having the table opened up, click on "find" to type in the address and see if data is available. As noted above, if no information is available, and you have reliable information regarding a house, please contact us and we will add it to the database.
Thanks to the City of Bloomington Township Assessor and Normal Township Assessor for use of the year built data. Both the Bloomington and Normal Assessor’s websites contain additional information regarding homes in McLean County, including photos on Normal’s site. Currently, data for older homes located in the unincorporated parts of McLean County are not available in a "digital" format, but it is expected that this data will be added in the future.
